Basketball Teams Debut This Week

JCC's men's and women's basketball teams are excited to kick off the 2016-17 season this week with home games Wednesday and Thursday at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center.

The men's team debuts against Lenior Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The women's team plays Clinton Junior College Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

Members of the JCC 2016-17 men's team are Kisheem Faison of Goldsboro; Chris Lucas of Rocky Mount; Montel Speight of Stantonsburg; Kenneth Williams Jr. of Garner; Antoine Miller of Detroit, Mich.; Tymell Blue of Raeford; Tynaffit Davis of Rocky Pointe; Montrell Plummer of Mount Olive; Maurice Butler Jr. of Mount Olive; Jamall McGee of Roanoke Rapids; Loris Lawson of Togo, West Africa; and Jermarcus Phelps of Smithfield.mensbasketball2

Members of 2016-17 Lady Jaguars are Myanna Cutbertson of Supply; Kristen Arnold of Clayton; Morgan Stapleton of Clayton; Heavyn O'neal of Clayton; Mariah Wall of Raleigh; Tinasha Horton of Raleigh; and Keimoria Wiseman of San Antonio, Texas.

The men's basketball team will compete in Division 3 Region 10 of the National Junior College Athletic Association, playing junior college teams in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The women's team will play NJCAA club level for 2016-17 with hopes of playing Division 2 next year.

Students and staff are admitted to the games free with their student and employee ID.
Admission for the general public is $5. Children 12 and under get in free.
